The First City Catalogues
I had not a clue that the ‘mom and pops’ coffee outlet I visited on Capitol Hill in Seattle (back when) would evolve into an iconic landmark and destination, worldwide (“Starbucks”). At the time it was simply another example of small, specialty retail in the city – but one that certainly fit my concept of celebrating the ‘one-of-a-kind, best of, and most unusual’. A city branding and guidebook combo, the Catalogues portrayed the entrepreneurial stories of distinctive non-chain retail, restaurants, fashion, and the Arts. From Vancouver to Atlanta; Seattle to San Antonio.
